The Cheapest Beers in Madrid (A Local Guide That Actually Saves You Money)

Stop 1: Galipán (Cuatro Caminos)
Start outside the centre in Cuatro Caminos.
Galipán offers one of the best-value deals in the city: unlimited beer for two hours for €10. This kind of thing simply could not exist in Australia. When I came across it, I was gobsmacked!
It’s straightforward. You sit down, order the deal, and the beers keep coming (well, you have to go to the bar to get the beers, but that’s a small price to pay). No frills, no complications. Just a steady flow of cold beers.
This is the kind of place you go to kick things off properly. Not fancy, but extremely effective.
Stop 2: Tapeando
Next up is Tapeando.
This place has a consistently strong atmosphere, and it’s easy to see why. The beers are €0.90, which is almost unheard of in central Madrid now.
They’re smaller pours (roughly 200ml), but that’s part of the rhythm. You drink one, order another, and before long you’ve had a few without really thinking about it.
It’s lively, it’s busy, and it feels like a proper Madrid bar and not something designed for tourists. Highly recommend.
Stop 3: La Taberna de la Copla (Malasaña)
Now into Malasaña, one of Madrid’s trendiest neighbourhoods.
La Taberna de la Copla gives you something slightly different. It also offers the €10 unlimited beer deal (only for an hour mind oyu), but the setting feels more traditional and authentic.
You’ve got that classic Spanish tavern atmosphere vibe – darker interiors, a bit more character, and a crowd that feels more local than polished.
It’s a good reminder that even in one of the trendiest parts of the city, you can still find places that haven’t lost their roots.
Stop 4: Bar Mana – The Cheapest Beer in Madrid
This is where things get stripped back completely.
At Bar Mana, you can get a doble beer for €1.
That’s it. No gimmicks, no deals, just a straight-up cheap beer.
It’s not glamorous. You’re not coming here for design or ambience. You’re coming here because a euro for a beer in Madrid is about as good as it gets, and because you’re OK with sticky floors and a musty smell.
And sometimes that’s all you need.

Cheap beer in Madrid still exists, but you have to be intentional about finding it.
Most visitors stay around Sol or Plaza Mayor and end up paying €3 – €5 without realising there are far better options just a little further out or tucked into the right neighbourhoods.
Places like these still reflect a more traditional Madrid: social, unpretentious, and accessible.
If you string a few of these stops together, you’ve got a solid, low-cost beer route through the city.
